Jay Bergen represented John Lennon the man, not John the Beatle. Thefest.com. Jude Southerland Kessler. December 1, 2022
As a further explanation to Jude’s last question to Jay, here is a copy of a document dated “12/3/80" from the files of Record Plant Studios. It shows that John Lennon and producer, Jack Douglas, were working at Record Plant on Yoko Ono's single “Walking On Thin Ice” that night when Jay stopped by to see his client, Eve Moon, and encountered Yoko in the reception area. The single would be a follow-up to John and Yoko’s Double Fantasy album released in November 1980. This is the first of eight Record Plant documents Jay has which show that John and Jack Douglas were working at Record Plant on December 3, 4, 5, and 8, 1980, before John was killed after leaving the studio around 10:30 pm on December 8th.

Notes From An Artist: Lennon, The Mobster & The Lawyer: The Jay Bergen Interview. Cygnus Radio. April 27, 2022.
It’s a series of revealing John Lennon stories hitherto untold – until now. In this riveting hour-long interview, attorney - author Jay Bergen recalls his time representing the former Beatle in 1975 in his case against Mafia-connected record mogul Morris Levy. Levy bullied Lennon, releasing an unauthorized album entitled “Roots” – which forced John to hastily bring out “Rock and Roll” to save his reputation which had been significantly damaged by the politically charged “Sometime In New York City” slab. Aside from the twists and turns in the courtroom, Bergen uncovers much about Lennon that fans never knew: his intense work ethic in the studio and deep knowledge of the process of record making; his views on controversial releases “Two Virgins” and “The Wedding Album,” Lennon’s fascination with New York City landmarks he’d never visited, and why Bergen feels that Lennon would not be pleased by the archival releases of his and The Beatles outtakes in recent years.
